I am committed to bringing research insights to policy discussion and decisionmaking, and have consulted with, given talks to, and written white papers for government officials, think tanks, and civil society advocates. Highlights include:
Providing an expert declaration in the AMP v. Myriad case related to human gene patents, which was cited repeatedly by the US District Court.
Serving as non-resident fellow of the Center for Democracy and Technology.
Leading a group of University of Michigan students in producing case studies on geoengineering for the US Government Accountability Office.
Giving talks at the European Patent Office, Secretary's Advisory Committee on Genetics, Health, and Society (US Department of Health and Human Services), Dutch Medical Biotechnology Commission, and advising individual members of the US Congress on gene patents.
Serving on the Board of Directors for Breast Cancer Action.
